I love my new job, working for a philanthropic foundation. I get to spend the day with smart, interesting, engaged people, trying to make the world a little bit better. Today I read a glowing news article about one of our initiatives, which provides training and equipment to improve school food. Then I made the fatal mistake of reading the rude and hateful public comments attached to the article. It’s a wonder to me that more philanthropists don’t say “screw it, you ungrateful scum,” and spend their millions on solid gold houses and jet-powered cars.
Fortunately, when I got home, some old friends were waiting to cheer me up.
