A Picture That Takes Me

Dad. During the Depression. Earning a living.

My Internet connection was a little slow tonight, and I almost complained.

My sister asked if I still had a copy of this photo, which I used in a Kinko’s ad back in the 90s. I found the photo file and emailed it to her. I also remembered Dad telling me that his first meal in the army was the first time he felt like he got enough to eat. Things were very different, not too long ago.

And all of this made me think of one of my favorite youtube clips, with Louis C.K.

  1. I love this photo. So glad that, one, it still exists, and two, that it ever was taken in the first place. Do we know the story behind it? Who took it and why they chose to record an ordinary day in the life of our favorite newsboy?

  2. If you’re interested, you can watch that entire Louis C.K. interview, higher quality, here on Vimeo: http://vimeo.com/14975413
