I’ve written about this one before. When I’m traveling and I can only carry one lens, this is the lens I carry. When I’m headed into a low light situation, this is the lens I carry. In fact, whenever I’m carrying a camera bag, this super lightweight, sharp as a tack, inexpensive marvel comes along for the ride and usually gets in on the action.
Here are some more shots that illustrate the versatility of this lens.
Wide open, this lens creates halos in areas of bright contrast, but otherwise I find it a stellar performer. Around the house or on the road, the 50 1.8 is sharp, fast, contrasty and colorful. It’s also small, light and cheap. As Charlie Sheen would say, “Winning!” Next time we’ll look at some images from a lens I decide to sell every three months, and decide to keep every three-months-and-one-day: The Nikon 85mm f/1.8.
