Too Far Away, Part 2

As a professional writer and amateur photographer, I sometimes forget that a picture is worth 2,787 words (with inflation). So in my post Too Small and Too Far Away, I mentioned that the images were crops, but did not illustrate.  To better understand the challenge, take a look at the cropped image and the original frame, shown together for the first time in this hemisphere!

The crop, which is probably 1/16 to 1/20 of the full image, shown below

Is there a bird in this picture? Looking through the viewfinder, I was so obsessed with the bird, I didn't even realize how small it was in the frame.

This one isn't cropped as tightly, but it's still only 1/10 or less of the full frame.

I mentioned in the original post that I wouldn't be buying a 600mm lens anytime soon, but I would certainly accept one as a gift. And I do have a birthday coming up!

As I mentioned, I’ll need to work on getting closer to the birds. Anyone got a really tall ladder?
