As I write this, I have tripped the shutter precisely seven times in 2012. All were variations of the image above, a tree shadow on Gridley Road. I was intrigued by the light, but chose not to photograph it. About a quarter of a mile later, I changed my mind and walked back. I didn’t get the picture I imagined, but I did remember to let interesting light sway me, so that’s a step in the right direction. I have some shoots lined up for this month, but when I consider that I’ve gone over a week without making a photograph, I smile. As I always reassure local retailers that insist they’ll be right with me, “If I was in a hurry I wouldn’t be living in Ojai.”
PS: Does the lens flare bother you? It doesn’t bother me.
